Geneva → Courchevel
The classic Alpine transfer, and the one where the last half hour bears no resemblance to the two before it. Around a hundred and fifty kilometres, most of it motorway, and then a mountain.
The first part runs from Geneva past Annecy and Albertville and up the Tarentaise valley to Moutiers. It is regular, predictable and undemanding.
The last twenty kilometres are something else entirely : a climb of switchbacks with a significant altitude gain, which in winter may be snow-covered. The distance is short and the time it takes is the least predictable part of the whole transfer.
Le Praz, Courchevel Village, Moriond and the top level are separate resorts stacked up the same mountain road, with a considerable difference in altitude between the lowest and the highest.
Telling us the level and the exact address is not administrative detail : it determines the vehicle, the time needed and where we can realistically set you down. Chalets on private, unploughed lanes sometimes require a drop-off at the nearest cleared point, and we flag that before departure rather than on arrival.
Chalet and apartment weeks in the Tarentaise change over on Saturdays. The whole valley travels up and down on the same day, through the same funnel at Moutiers, and the resort roads carry it all.
We do not advertise a guaranteed journey time on this route. What we do is recommend a departure time : on a peak Saturday, leaving early or later in the afternoon changes the day far more than the choice of vehicle does.
Between two and a half and three hours in good conditions, appreciably longer on a peak Saturday or in heavy snow. No journey time is guaranteed on this route.
The airport has a French and a Swiss sector. Tell us your flight number and we confirm the meeting point accordingly before you land.
In most cases yes, with a suitable vehicle. Where a private lane is too steep or not cleared, we agree the nearest accessible point in advance.
Yes — for lunch, or to collect hire equipment in Moutiers or in resort. Arrange it at the time of booking.
Yes, including Méribel and the neighbouring resorts, from Geneva, Lyon, Chambéry and Grenoble.
Send us your flight number, date, the resort level and full address, the number of passengers and your equipment. We reply with a realistic schedule and a firm quote.
