Friday evening is the problem

Deauville is where Paris goes for the weekend. The A13 westbound carries that exodus on Friday afternoons and evenings, and the same traffic returns on Sunday evening. In July and August the effect is stronger still.

Leaving an hour earlier or two hours later changes this journey more than anything else we could do. We will tell you so when we quote, and we do not advertise a guaranteed travel time on this route.

Deauville, Trouville, and which one you booked

The two towns face each other across the mouth of the Touques and are often confused by visitors. Deauville has the boardwalk, the racecourses, the casino and the grand hotels ; Trouville, a few minutes away on the other bank, is a working fishing port with a different character.

They are close but not interchangeable, and the bridges between them are a bottleneck in season. Give us the exact address and we plan the approach accordingly.

A town with a calendar

Race meetings, polo, the yearling sales and the September film festival transform Deauville for a few days at a time. Hotels fill, parking becomes difficult and the streets around the events are regulated.

If your visit falls on one of those weekends, tell us : the drop-off point, the departure time and sometimes the route all need adjusting. Outside those periods, and out of season, the town is quiet and everything is straightforward.

What to tell us when booking

  1. The exact address — hotel, villa or a Trouville address : they are not the same approach.
  2. Any fixed time — a race, a dinner, a ceremony. We work backwards from it rather than from a departure time.
  3. Luggage and equipment — golf clubs and weekend cases change the vehicle category more than passenger numbers do.
  4. The return — booked with the outbound where possible, since Sunday evenings are the busiest slot of the week.

Frequently asked

How long does it take ?

Around two hours in good conditions, noticeably longer on a summer Friday. We do not guarantee a duration on this route.

Can the chauffeur stay for the weekend ?

Yes, as a daily booking if you want a car available on site. For a simple there-and-back, two separate journeys are usually better value and we will say so.

Can you collect us from an airport ?

Yes, from Charles de Gaulle, Orly or Le Bourget, with flight tracking and luggage handled once.

Do you also serve Honfleur and the coast ?

Yes. See Paris to Normandy for the wider region.

Is there space for golf clubs ?

Yes, with the right vehicle. Tell us how many bags when you enquire.
