Paris → Palace of Versailles

Private chauffeur
Paris to Versailles

Twelve miles that can swallow a whole morning if you get them wrong: the RER C connection, the fifteen-minute walk from the station, then the queue. With a chauffeur you leave from your own address and step out at the entrance to the estate.

Why a chauffeur for Versailles

Versailles does not reward a rushed visit. Entry is timed, the estate covers several hundred hectares, and the day rarely ends where it began: you come in through the forecourt and come out through the gardens, the Trianon or the Queen’s Hamlet.

A private chauffeur solves both ends of that problem. In the morning you leave at the time your entry slot dictates, not the time of the next train. In the evening you are collected wherever the visit actually finished, without walking the whole route back.

In between, the car either waits or returns later, depending on the arrangement. It is that flexibility — far more than the comfort of the drive itself — that makes a chauffeur worth it on this particular trip.

How the journey works

  • Pickup in Paris

At the address of your choice: home, hotel, office, railway station or airport. Your chauffeur is there waiting, so there is nobody to find and nothing to arrange on the pavement.

  • Leaving Paris

Via whichever exit makes sense for your starting point — Porte de Saint-Cloud, the Pont de Sèvres or the A13 — depending on your district and on traffic at that hour.

  • Arrival at Versailles

Drop-off as close as possible to the entrance that matches your ticket: Place d’Armes for the palace, the Queen’s Gate or the Trianon estate entrance, according to your itinerary.

  • During the visit

Your chauffeur leaves and returns at the agreed time, or stays on hand throughout if your day includes several stops.

  • The return

Back to Paris, to your hotel, on to an airport or to another destination entirely. The return leg does not have to retrace the outward one.

Distance

Roughly twenty kilometres from central Paris. Journey time depends entirely on the hour and on traffic: there is no guaranteed transit time on this route, and we would rather say so than quote a figure that a weekday morning will contradict.

One way or return

A one-way transfer suits a day that continues elsewhere. A return with an agreed pickup time is the most common arrangement. Hourly hire keeps car and chauffeur assigned to you for the whole outing.

What a chauffeur changes about the day

You leave on your own schedule

Your entry slot sets the departure, not the timetable. A 9 am entry and a 2 pm entry call for very different mornings; the pickup time is built around yours.

You carry nothing

Coats, bags, a pushchair, anything bought at the shop: it all stays in the car. On an estate where you walk several kilometres, that matters more than it sounds.

Plans can change

A visit that runs long, a late decision to add the Trianon, lunch in town: the pickup time is simply adjusted with your chauffeur, with no ticket to rebook and no train to chase.

Choosing a vehicle

The choice comes down to how many of you there are and what the rest of the day holds. Models are named for guidance: a booking is made against a category and honoured with the model listed or an equivalent.

1 to 3 passengers

Saloon

Mercedes E-Class, S-Class or similar, depending on the tier you choose. The simplest format for a couple or a business trip.

4 to 7 passengers

Van

Mercedes V-Class, Vito Tourer or similar. The natural family choice here: room for child seats and for everything you would rather not carry round the gardens.

8 passengers and up

Minibus

Mercedes Sprinter, Sprinter VIP or similar. Suited to organised groups, delegations and company outings travelling together.

Versailles: what actually shapes the plan

The estate is not just the palace. The Grand and Petit Trianon and the Queen’s Hamlet sit a few kilometres away, at the far end of the gardens. A full day therefore means either a great deal of walking or a pickup point different from the drop-off point — which is precisely what a chauffeur makes possible.

Two things govern everything else: the time printed on your ticket, which fixes your departure from Paris, and the direction of your visit, which decides where you should be collected. Tell us both when you enquire and the journey is built around them.

The town itself often deserves an hour: the Notre-Dame quarter, the market, a table before heading back. Again, it is the hourly arrangement that leaves room for it.

Return and hourly hire

Scheduled return

You set a time and a pickup point and your chauffeur is there. The clearest option when the visit is planned and the day ends back in Paris.

Chauffeur at your disposal

Car and chauffeur are reserved for you for an agreed number of hours. Palace, Trianon, lunch and the drive home follow one another without rebuilding the arrangement at every stop.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the drive from Paris to Versailles take?

The palace is about twenty kilometres from central Paris. Real journey time depends on your departure hour and on traffic, and varies widely between an early weekday start and the middle of a weekend afternoon. We do not quote guaranteed transit times; we set the pickup around your entry slot instead.

Does the chauffeur wait during the visit?

Either arrangement is possible. With a scheduled return, your chauffeur leaves and comes back at the agreed time and place. With hourly hire, he stays assigned to your day for the hours booked.

Can we be dropped off and collected at different points?

Yes, and on this estate it is usually the sensible choice. A visit that starts at the forecourt often ends near the Trianon or the Queen’s Hamlet, so the pickup point is set accordingly.

Can you collect us from Paris-CDG or Orly?

Yes. Pickup can take place at the airport, with your chauffeur meeting you on arrival, and continue straight to Versailles without going through Paris.

Which vehicle suits a family with children?

A van such as a Mercedes V-Class or Vito Tourer, or similar, is the most comfortable format: room for child seats, for pushchairs and for everything left on board during the visit. Tell us the number and ages of the children when you enquire.

Are palace tickets included?

No. We provide the chauffeur service. Entry tickets and guided visits are booked with the estate; simply send us your entry time so the journey can be built around it.

Can you take a group?

Yes. Above seven passengers the trip is arranged by minibus, or by several coordinated vehicles for larger parties. Give us the exact headcount for an accurate quote.
